Well made bag! Very much thought out in design. I look forward to taking it out on my next gig!
I do tend to use more than three mutes though, so I will have to utilize the upper compartment for my additional mutes. My IPad Pro has a case on it, so the side zippered compartment that they show an iPad being put into is now too small for it to fit. It can however fit inside the deep upper internal compartment that I believe is intended for sheet music. My trumpet bag has a pouch for music though, so that doesn't introduce an issue for me. They don't mention it but this mute bag does have a charging cord that extends from the upper compartment out through the shell to a fixed plugged location. I have placed a portable charger inside the zippered pocket that's next to the cord, to connect to this. I can simply connect my devices to that fixed plug. I might have liked having a usb-c plug though instead of the given usb plug. Still a cool idea though. Lots of pockets overall for additional storage!
I'm used to having to carry my mute bag by hand, so having this backpack style bag will free up a hand to carry something else!
I will recommend the My Mutebag Backpack to other players!
Product arrived as described. I filled it from my old gig bag and threw it the old one away. Looking forward to using my new one this weekend!
Admittedly, I was using a backpack that work gave me for free, as it was something that would carry my mutes, music and real books for my rehearsals. While this was a quick remedy to get me going from home to rehearsal, it was not fully protecting my mutes. This Mutebag backpack is great! I really love that there is a mute bag inside of the backpack that can be accessed from the side, while keeping my music in place. I also really dig the built-in usb connection so I can connect my power bank to keep my phone charged. I feel this bag keeps me organized. Very happy with my purchase and fast delivery too!
I received this mute bag as a gift from a friend who won it at ITG 2025, so I have zero money in the game for this, nor did I know how much one costs new. I am an orchestral and solo trumpet player and at any given time I need two to five mutes, plus a single stand and various bits and bobs. I had had a protec 6 mute bag for almost a decade and assumed it was the only option. This little blue titan fits my straight, adjustable cup, stand, harmon, plunger, practice, and piccolo mute while having zero difficulty closing or zipping the bag! It's tiny as all get-out, beautifully crafted, and the front and back pockets hold every pencil, oil, and even a pedal page turner. There is literally no other mute bag I will ever recommend to anyone else and I plan to buy the backback and just swap the included mute bag for my current one.
“Right-sized” for most gigging trumpet players, the bag perfectly balances functionality, protection, storage, and style! I fit three mutes, a plunger, and key additional accessories. My only regret is not buying it the first 20 times I saw the ads online!
Well thoughtout and perfect for those of us who have electronics (ipad, page turner) in addition to mutes! Everything in its place!
This backpack mute bag is a game changer. It is very well made and holds way more “stuff” than you think it should. It is designed for practicality and has cut down the number of bags I have to use to get ready for a gig. This was one of the best purchases I have made. I’m a big fan.
This Mutebag is great! I can now consolidate two protec bags into one Mutebag and carry it on my shoulders! Plus, it'll fit in an overhead compartment!
Bravo, Mutebags!
Lots of room for my gear. I especially like the separate mute bag. The straps on the bottom hold my Tablet stand in place securely.
It is and awesome bag with a lot of room for the mutes and also for sheet music, iPad and other stuff that we use on a daily basis. Great design!
The day I received this bag, I instantly fell in love with it. It’s not too big or small and has a ton of features, making it the perfect bag!
Very expensive for a mute bag not much bigger than the Protec, at twice the price. I would rather have a wider bag instead of taller. I can get more mutes in the Mutebag, but only by dumping some on top of others. I've spent too much on good mutes to want them banged up. I like that there is room for me to store a paper folder, but wish it would fit a concert folder. The build quality seems good, but overall not worth the money.
I LOVE the idea of a mute bag backpack. It makes carrying my mutes, mic cables, 12.9 iPad and 'stuff' much more convenient. There is also a bottom compartment with a separate divided mute bag.
This is a well designed and well made backpack with multiple zipped pockets. In addition, this backpack can pull double duty as a carry-on bag when flying, and has a sleeve on the back side to make it possible to slide the backpack over the trumpet or suitcase handle. This was one of the best purchases I've made for transporting 'stuff' to gigs.
Pros:The bag looks nice. Pockets inside will hold my straight mute, cup mute, and one more mute.
Cons: tablet pouch is a little too small for my 13” iPad Air. The snaps will not snap. The other pouch will not hold my tablet. I think it will work for my folder of music if needed. The zipper and zipper pull should be made more heavy duty. I hope it holds up to the rigors of gigging.
The perfect size to fit a cup, harmon, bucket, straight mute, and plunger. Looks amazing as well, very quality build.
I can’t believe I have been carelessly carrying my mutes around in a reusable grocery bag, subjecting them to needless wear and tear. Two things attracted me to Mutebag:
1. Construction and Color: made of sturdy canvas instead of nylon and color choice let me coordinate with my trombone case.
2. Slhoulder strap: make this bag easier to carry than all the others. I’m usually toting a Manhasset stand to rehearsals and the shoulder makes the whole combo easier to manage.
Lastly, I’m a fan of well made products that are built to last. It’s exactly the bag I want and won’t have to replace soon.
Thanks for the thoughtful review!
Outstanding. I too, have been on a quest for such a bag. I’m genuinely grateful to find this one. Love the structure yet flexibility.
Deluxe!
Happy to hear this! I really appreciate the support!
I love it. It is better protection and very well made....this is my 2nd one that I bought.
I usually carry 2 horns plus a full complement of mutes. I use a Gard compact triple case with one of the partitions set up for mutes. But now doing a show which requires a Straight, Cup, Harmon, Plunger, and additionally a Bucket and Cleartone. And for warmup I use a small practice mute. And as of that’s enough, I use a stand mounted mute holder and a foot pedal. So, I was looking to carry the extra and if possible not carry mutes in the horn case. Mission accomplished. Got everything in the new bag without having to put any thing other than horns in the Gard case. Quality is great. Delivery was fast. Customer Service is spot on. Five Stars.
Rock on! Thank you for your detailed review!
So far I’m really liking this bag. Unfortunately the roominess encourages me to find more stuff to put into it. I do have to put my orchestra folder in the outside pocket which shouldn’t be a rain issue, hopefully. My iPad and mutes, even my KraftGeek music stand all fit easily inside. Best impulse buy of 2025!
I can tell that this bag was designed by a brass player, for a brass player. It is high quality, from the metal used on the strap to the thick material the bag is made of. It also looks really nice, which is a plus! I'm excited to show my new mute bag off!
Just received my new My mutebag in Black, and it’s fantastic. It holds all of my mutes, mouthpiece pouch, iPad, trumpet stands and the Broadway Mute Mate! And, some bottled water on the outside!! Thanks Mymutebag!!!!
I'm not sure how to use the Velcro panels in the bag. I wish it was slightly larger. It seems to work fine for three mutes.
Best purchase ever!!! If you are a musician or music teacher, this is the bag you’ve been looking for.
So happy to hear this! Rock on!!
